NYU Acoustic Phonetics and Perception Lab in the Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders is looking for people who are bilingual in Korean and English for a study. The study is conducted fully remotely online. Participants have to be currently living in the US. Please read below and contact SpeechLab@nyu.edu if you are interested in participating! Compensation will be provided.1. Korean-English early bilinguals (i.e., people who grew up in the US but who learned Korean at the same time they were learning English and still use Korean with family and friends

We are conducting a research study to find out how people listen to speech when there is some background noise. Participants in the study will listen to speech and tell us what they hear. Participants must speak American English as their first language and be 18-40 years old and also have learned Korean from birth. The study will take 60 minutes and you will be paid $20 for completing all parts). If you are interested in this study or finding out more information, please contact us at SpeechLab@nyu.edu.  

We are currently recruiting speakers whose first languages are American English and Korean.

2. Native speakers of Korean who learned English as a second language later in life 

We are conducting a research study to find out how people listen to speech when there is some background noise. Participants in the study will listen to speech and tell us what they hear. Participants must speak Korean as their first language and be 18-40 years old and have also studied or learned American English during or after elementary school. The study will take 30 minutes and you will be paid $10 for completing all parts). If you are interested in this study or finding out more information, please contact us at SpeechLab@nyu.edu.  

We are currently recruiting speakers whose first language is Korean and who have studied English.
